A Key Treatment for Infectious Diseases and Recovery

Some infections need intravenous (IV) antibiotics for days or weeks — but that no longer means staying in the hospital. Through outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), our infectious disease specialists deliver hospital-grade IV antibiotic treatment in a comfortable outpatient setting in Fort Myers. We are open 7 days a week, including weekend mornings — because IV antibiotic schedules do not pause on Saturday, and neither do we.
What is OPAT?
OPAT — outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy — is the delivery of IV antibiotics, antifungals, or antivirals outside the hospital, managed by an infectious disease team. It lets patients who would once have stayed admitted for weeks complete their treatment while living at home, coming to our infusion center on a schedule, with an ID physician overseeing the medication, the dosing, and the lab monitoring throughout.
Conditions we treat with IV antibiotics
- Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis) and prosthetic joint infections
- Heart valve infections (endocarditis)
- Bloodstream infections (bacteremia)
- Serious skin and soft-tissue infections, including cellulitis and MRSA
- Diabetic foot infections and wound infections
- Complicated urinary, intra-abdominal, and post-surgical infections
- Complicated pneumonia and other infections requiring prolonged IV therapy

For referring providers, hospitals, and discharge planners
We partner with hospitalists, surgeons, wound-care centers, and case managers across Lee and Collier counties to move patients safely from inpatient IV antibiotics to outpatient care. We accept next-day OPAT starts, manage PICC lines and lab monitoring, and communicate back to the referring team throughout the course. Weekend dosing capability means we can accept discharges any day of the week. To refer a patient, fax referrals to (239) 208-6623 or call (239) 245-8223 to speak with our team.
