How Can I Get Same-Day PrEP in Fort Myers? Your Step-by-Step Guide

Taking control of your sexual health shouldn’t mean jumping through hoops or waiting weeks for an appointment. If you are considering PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) to protect yourself against HIV, you deserve fast, confidential, and judgment-free care.

At Florida Infectious Disease Care, Dr. Amaury Díaz and our medical team believe prevention should be simple. That is why we offer same-day PrEP visits (or the next day if you reach us after hours) with Dr. Díaz or one of our providers, at our Fort Myers clinic or by secure telehealth anywhere in Florida.

If you are ready to take the next step, here is exactly what to expect.

Step 1: Reach out the way you prefer

Talking about sexual health can feel intimidating, so we keep the first step easy. You don’t have to call if you’d rather not: just text our office at (239) 245-8223. A member of our team will text you back to set up your visit the same day, or the next day if you reach us after hours. You can also request an appointment online.

Step 2: Choose in-person or telehealth

Your comfort comes first. There are two ways to be seen by Dr. Díaz or one of our providers:

  • In person: visit our private office at 14192 Metropolis Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33912.
  • Telehealth: connect with your provider from the privacy of your home, anywhere in Florida, on your phone or computer.

Step 3: Quick, confidential lab work

To prescribe PrEP safely, we run a few routine tests: an HIV test (PrEP is only for people who are HIV-negative), screening for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and a kidney check.

  • In our office, we do your labs during the same visit, including a rapid HIV test.
  • By telehealth, we send your lab orders to a Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp location near you.

Step 4: Choose your PrEP and get your prescription

Once your provider reviews your results and confirms PrEP is a safe fit, you’ll decide together which option suits your life best:

  • A daily pill
  • An injection every 2 months
  • A long-acting injection every 6 months, our newest option

For pills, we send your prescription to your local pharmacy right away, or we can arrange for it to be mailed to your home in discreet packaging. We work with most major insurance plans, and if you are paying yourself, we’ll help you find medication assistance programs that make PrEP affordable.

Your health, your timeline

Protecting yourself shouldn’t have to wait. Dr. Díaz is passionate about providing a safe, affirming, and supportive place for everyone in Southwest Florida, in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Learn more about PrEP and PEP

PrEP is for people who are HIV-negative. An HIV test is required before starting PrEP and before each long-acting injection. PrEP does not protect against other STIs. This article is general information, not medical advice; ask your provider whether PrEP is right for you.
